They (approx. 20 - 25) were originally built during the 1930s-40s and used for wild parties during prohibition. They were later used by wealthy locals as weekend retreats. More recently, the national park service has claimed them, but continues to allow private use by the previous owners. Any structures destroyed by hurricanes are not permitted to be rebuilt.<br>As for Mr. Devaney's yacht, it frequently cruises in that area despite the water depth being less than adequate for her draft. <br>A 142 foot Trinity Yacht - $23.5 million dollars. They are just so romantic, and I will like to see them rebuild after a hurricane.<br><br>Yes they will have to be rebuilt many times, but it is almost like a historical monument, a proof that life can be utterly romantic.
