Michael Andretti's Home, Estate of the Day

Today's estate listing has 70 pictures, but that's because there is a lot to check out. The 12,000-square-foot mansion is Michael Andretti's home in Bushkill Township, Pennsylvania. Andretti the son of racing legend Mario Andretti and the father of current Indy Racing League star Marco Andretti. He is also a former racer and is now the owner of Andretti Green Racing as well as other businesses. Andretti built the home in 1986. The ten acres include a six-hole golf course, six-car garage, pool, tennis court and a pond. The home is lavish and developed to the owner's specifications with hand-painted murals that reference the family's Italian heritage. There are six-bedrooms total as well as a gym, game room and wine cellar and massive two-story dome. The home is listed at $3.4 million.

This home has no sense of place. It's way over the top tacky. The sun tanning bed in the bedroom that also has a sink in a corner--horrible. It looks like in the same bedroom the shower opens onto the bedroom, like some cheap German hotel in the Black Forest.

Black Forest Mold and garbagio!

Yikes - what an assembly of ugly bits and pieces that together looks even worse if they were apart. A would-be buyer wouldn't even know where to start to 'fix it'. The interior could be slightly reworked, but there is only so much money and effort you can invest.
The red ceiling foyer just invites a comparison to "Tony" Montana's "pad" in Scarface complete with the ugly brass railing of the stairs.
Sure Mario lives right next door but even living next to legend goes only so far in glossing over this wreck. I've been to Italy for extended periods frequently enough to know nothing in that house emulates rich craftsmanship of Italy!
The ceilings seem very low in several rooms and what is up with that cheap Home Depot on-sale looking cherry wood everywhere? The contemporary exterior looks like a commercial building and planetarium were slammed together. I vote this one for a Luxist hall of shame ...

Signor,
Agreed, with reservations!

Oh. My. God. That might be the ugliest house I've ever seen.

How long does it take to make ugly; then so ugly you have to move?
PATRIZZIA Jan 18th 2008 12:35PM

Patrizzia? How is this house going to get sold in this kind of real estate market.....Maybe you should put it up for sale in JAPAN, in Honda Country....where you have some friends. You have scared all Americans away with your strange family "lack" of values. What happened? SADD

Italian heritage? Is he related to Tony Soprano?

Maybe one of his children would like to buy it, or perhaps his dad would like to make a museum out of the property. In the back they could make a cemetary for all of those young innocent children who have been killed on the highways and byways in America emulating Sonny and Mario on the raceways. It isn't an ugly home it is very reflective of the darkness that surrounds it inhabitants. Some other person may love it, and remember it only takes one rich person to buy a home like this one. I don't think "class' is reallythe issue. Some people love that "Hugh Hefner" look. Maybe there will be silk bathrobes awaiting the new owner!

Mario you should be so proud of your accomplishments, this home is a perfect reflection of Michael. Dark, lonely, self-absorbed and very little thought. This home really says so much about the Andretti's perhaps you should buy it and make it a museum. It doesn't look very child friendly, but perhaps more like the professional side of the family force!
RIP
All of those children who have died on the highway having made M&M&M Andretti a legend. Also, you of all people should know that Honda Civics are not suitable for children.

Patrizia? Sandy? WHat's her name? The "Girls Next-door"? Who lived there, but more that this, who doen't want to live there? We have cousins in living in Rome, the homes are lovely and actually very small. This home is gigantic, larger that life. It has taken many breaths away, just look on the Beachline in Central Florida. Memorial, after memorial, all praising the legendary Andretti....from the ground up. The Italian people are truly proud, but there is no artistic talent here or authentic Italian Artistic feeling here. Pretty home, but probably a nightmare of bad Harma; the energy is fierce, though. Maybe the Church in Rome would like to buy this home as a tribute to the great Commodore legenary family. Doubtful, the church recently published 10 commandments for Driving ...and for victims of crash victims. Maybe the realtor could get a copy and hang it on the entryway. Good luck!

Remember Elvis' "Graceland"?, This property could be called "Raceland"...
The real question to ask is, would anyone want to see it? Maybe but probably not....A wax museum, with Andretti Hall of fame and a tribute to all of the friends and family over the years...Imagine paying dollars (or yen) to see it. Maybe Honda of America could make a new home for Asimo the Robot....If all else fails. Of course A memorial in the back for all of those teenagers who have died in Honda's
thinking they could acually go 95-100 m.p.h. on the highway....just like M&M...and Grand Daddy. SADD.

Thwack! you could had a V-8! Try it next time.
This home is just enormous; you need an extended family, plus the girls next door! Maybe it isn't big enough?lol It has a certain charm about it, but you would have to be macho and very "chique" bull-dog charismatic. Also, whining and driving don't really mix well....so maybe the realtor should nix the Whine..ery. Maybe it's the thing that will make the sale though....Is it a haunted house, the price is kinda low? Better Call Ghost Busters before you buy, also check out the back yard....
Lost in Translation Jan 19th 2008 11:57PM
This house should be put in the Racing Hall of Fame...or Shame, whatever.... What's up, dog, you don't like the peeps no more....Your ol'e lady doesn't like your crib? Hey, "Lip my stocking, Mr. Harris"..... You could do better but Mikey, you will sooooo miss tis house when you are an old man....Whatabout your family traditions, whata bout the bus buoy? Prease Mr. Harris.... Don't you like your ride no mo big guy? Oh, Mr. Harris I want this house.. Prease....Lip my stocking,,You could name your new I-Bot Vacuum, Masimo, instead of Asimo. I love this house....Please keep it for old times, prease.....
