Arts and Crafts Wyoming, Estate of the Day

It's not exactly a Frank Lloyd Wright home but it is definitely inspired by the legendary architect. This home near Jackson, Wyoming was custom built for someone who definitely has a taste for the Arts and Crafts style. The woodwork here is stunning, especially the chandelier in the dining room. If you aren't a fan of this style it can all be a bit much but the overall theme is very consistent and rather restful. The four-bedroom home has an exterior of pressed brick, elaborate cornices, and wrap-around terraces. It sits on 5.37 acres and is listed at $11.4 million.

$11.4mio in WYOMING??? for that price it better have ALOT more than 5 acres. is that a sears-roebuck stove i see in the kitchen??????

Dia, you've apparently not been to the region in which this house is located. I have, frequently, and it's market-consistent, if not a bit undermarket.

I'm sorry, but FLW would puke if he saw those interiors.

Agreed. While I'm a fan of both Arts and Crafts and Prairie Styles, it's necessary for SOME relief to the eye and the soul, and this interior offers no relief. It's too much of a good style, with no relief from it, and that sinks it. Exterior, beautiful.

Actually FLW was Prairie style not Arts and Crafts.

This seems slightly... off; derivative and inauthentic. Spectacular views aside, I don't see anything that makes me feel it's worth 11.4.
Still, I like it.

When I see an exterior like that , why do I always think "Dentist Office"?

It looks like the architect tried to incorporate themes from every period of FLW's career. The end result is pretty ugly. Too bad - what a waste of money.
