All View, Estate of the Day

The location alone makes this one total estate of the day bait. Then we add in the names, the eight-bedroom home was built in 1890 by Gilded Age architect Stanford White and the exterior layout was designed by the king of landscape architects Fredrick Law Olmsted. The property in Larchmont, New York has a fantastic location on a private peninsula on nearly three acres. The views of Long Island, Westchester and New York City are nothing short of fantastic. The listing says a renovation took place in 1994 but this massive 21,000 square foot home looks like it is need of a big scoop of loving care and a lot of cash to make it sparkle. It's priced at $14 million.

This house was not built in 1980. It was built in 1890 which maybe why it looks like it needs more improvement. Despite that I think its nice looking! With some money this 28 room beauty would be a showplace with amazing views.

The price actually seems low. I wonder what the renovation cost are.

1890 sounds more resonable seeing how Stanford White died (shot in the head at Madison Square Garden) in 1906.
Thank you for point that out.
This is a lovely classic Mansion.

I'm pretty sure that either this is being returned to market or its been for sale for quite some time and at a lower price. I swear Houlihan Lawrence listed/represented it a couple years ago.
What folks don't see is an arial shot which shows just how extensive the build up of properties (of assorted styles) are effectively behind it. It is a bit of a narrow causeway that goes out to the neck of land this rests on. Looking at the Sound is great but views from the facade towards the land aren't.
For the record ... taxes on it today are: ~ $256,222

Deidre, you didn't say 1980, it was clearly written 1890. You shouldn't be apologizng for a typo where there wasn't one. This house is gorgeous!

I think thats because she edited it. But wow thats a lot of tax on one house. I guess if you have 14 million to buy it you can afford that tax bill. lol I still love it though. Thanks for featuring this one.
