Potomac, Estate of the Day

For $12.5 million this gorgeous estate in Potomac, Maryland could be your new abode. A colonial style home built in 2004, this massive house has ten bedrooms, eleven baths and five powder rooms. With 2.7 acres to enjoy, including the 50-foot swimming pool with waterfalls and lighted outdoor tennis court, this 25,000 square feet house affords plenty of space for entertaining guests or hosting large family gatherings. Every room that could be conceived of is included -- media room, wine cellars, staff quarters, exercise room and sauna, and a six-car garage. Plus it is conveniently close to downtown Washington D.C. and a few nearby airports. All it needs is a barn for horses to make it complete -- at least in my eyes.

This looks like crap. The colors remind me of a nursing home, and I hate houses that are big, just for the sake of being big. because other than that, they have a lot of wasted space and it ends up looking like a holiday inn. Yestarday's EoTD was how a big estate is supposed to look.
The first couple of rooms pictured are okay, especially the mahogany rooms with the dark leather . . but then it ends up looking like a rediculous timeshare home

I like it. Very nice with out being gaudy.

Well, at least they got a good photog, except for the fitness ctr where you get the flash reflection, very well done. They waited for that magic hour after sundown for the evening pictures...got that deep blue sky.

If you go to the website they have tons of pictures. Now thats the way to show off a house.

absolute dogs**t.
I cannot believe this is considered a luxury property, it's just ugly, over-sized, cavernous, crap.
Luxist - please maintain your standard for properties that are at least interesting, if not good looking.

i'm pretty sure that the $12.5 million price tax is what defines luxury Tim, which is what Luxist is about. Individual personal tastes less so.

I think it's a beautiful estate.Classy, not gaudy.I don't care for rooms with too many different colors. The only thing I'd change with this one would be to add just a hint of maroon or sage green.

This house has no character inside. Looks like they decorated it themselves or used the JCPenney design services. Can't believe you posted this one. You have much better taste normally.

This house is decent. I'd give it a 5 out of 10. But this $hi* looks like it was thrown together in like an extreme makeover home thing.. Every room gets worse than the last with this uneasy decorating scheme. It's like whoever decorated this house went way too fast and didn't even look back. The only two things in this house that look like good quality is the exterior(some parts) and the first floor of the library thing. I agree with the 1st comment on here.

I know the listing agent...(not close friends, but we know each other). This place sold. I don't know the selling price, but someone liked it enough to buy it. A lot of the houses in Potomac are akin to this one...
